The Mont Blanc massif
Shared by France, Switzerland and Italy, the Mont-Blanc massif is home to some of Europe's most beautiful and highest peaks. It's not for nothing that Chamonix has been dubbed the mountaineering capital of the world!
Wherever you are in the Chamonix valley, just look up and you'll see the majestic Mont Blanc, culminating at 4,810 metres above sea level. But that's not all: the Glacier des Bossons, the Aiguille d'Argentière, the Grandes Jorasses, the Dent du Géant... The Chamonix Mont-Blanc valley has thousands of snow-covered wonders and summits to look at (or climb!).
In short, we've searched and searched, but we haven't found a better way to recharge our batteries!
The Aiguille du Midi
Are you ready to experience the high mountains? Two cable cars, a 20-minute journey and you're up to 3,842 metres.
TheAiguille du Midi is THE place to see at least once in your life! The starting point for numerous mountaineering races and the mythical Vallée Blanche, the Aiguille du Midi offers breathtaking 360-degree views of Mont-Blanc and the French, Swiss and Italian Alps. A guaranteed change of scenery!
Step into the void, the world's highest museum, hypoxia bearings... there's more to discover at the summit than just the view. From here, you can even reach Italy's Pointe Helbronner via the Panoramic Mont-Blanc, offering a unique journey at over 3,000 metres above the glaciers.
The Sea of Ice
There are some authentic places you just can't get enough of. Climb aboard the famous little red cogwheel train from the Montenvers station for a journey through time and discover the mythical Mer de Glace. Arriving at the Montenvers station, at an altitude of 1,913 meters, you can admire the view of the mountains and descend into the bowels of the glacier. Take the gondola from the Montenvers station to the Mer de Glace glacier and visit the man-made ice grotto!
Le Brévent
The magic of Mont Blanc. From Chamonix, a gondola takes you up to Planpraz at 1,999 meters. Then a cable car takes you to the summit of Le Brévent. In summer and winter alike, Le Brévent offers splendid views of the entire Mont-Blanc range. What's more, the southern balcony of the Chamonix valley enjoys ideal sunshine!
The White Lake
Lac Blanc is Chamonix's legendary hike, offering breathtaking views. Situated at 2,352 meters above sea level in the heart of the Aiguilles Rouges mountain range, facing the Mont Blanc chain, Lac Blanc is world-famous for the reflections of the Mont Blanc massif in its crystal-clear water.
For the more sporty, the ascent can be made from the Col des Montets or Tré-le-Champ. If you're new to the mountains, you may prefer to take the Flégère gondola from Les Praz de Chamonix. There's still around 1h30 to walk.
But no matter how you get there, the view from the mountain is magnificent!
